Meet Slim Chance
Slim Chance is a Philly-based rock band that draws its sonic identity from British Invasion garage rock, American folk, blues, and late-70s power pop.
The band came to be in 2025 when Liz (vocals/guitar), Steve (drums), Mike (guitar/vocals) and John (bass/vocals/production) after their paths kept crossing at open mics, jam sessions, and gigs of mutual aquaintances. Despite what they initially thought was a “slim chance” of anything coming out of it, they had so much fun playing together that they decided to listen to what the universe was trying to tell them and joined forces.
Since then, they’ve had a steady flow of live shows in Philly and the surrounding 'burbs and have become know for their high-energy performances, powerful vocals, three-part harmonies, and reimagined “old school” feel. Their music is a true blend of eclectic musical influences and distinct writing styles that keep every set fresh and dynamic. If you like soulful, rocking music with heart, then this is the band for you.

Liz Van Horn is the lead singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist of Slim Chance. She has a powerful, raspy voice with which she loves to belt out the rockers, but it also lends itself to the slower sweet songs. She and Steve have been playing music together since they met as students at Temple University, and always talked about being in a band together — they’re stoked that the dream has become a reality. Liz is originally from Media, PA, and has lived in South Philly for several years, staying active in both communities.
Mike Dudolevitch is an accomplished guitarist, singer, and songwriter with countless successful projects under his belt (i.e. The Nuclears), with current projects including leading The Industry Darlings and shredding his guitar in Creem Circus. Mike is known to bust out a power pop/glam rock solo, witty lyrics and dynamic music arrangements. Mike met Liz and Steve at an open mic at the Philadelphia Brewing Co. shortly after moving from NYC to Philly and they haven’t stopped playing together since.
Steve Newell is a seasoned drummer who has played with dozens of bands, but Slim Chance is his main project. Steve can also be heard singing some sweet backup vocals on the band’s EP and even co-wrote one of their latest songs on the new album. Hailing from Manyunk, he is deeply invested in the music community there. He met Liz in college and they jammed/played gigs together for years before meeting Mike and subsequently forming the perfect project for them in Slim Chance.
Johnny Cunningham is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, with his main instrument in Slim Chance being the Bass. Johnny is practically playing music at all times, whether in Slim Chance, Soda Jerk, Gum, or subbing in/touring with bands such as Get the Led Out. He met the rest of the band members at a friend’s jam session (after he moved back to Havertown from New York) and offered to produce their EP. The next thing he knew he’d produced the whole EP and has been officially in the band for a year.
